The ZenBusiness Number You Will Actually Live With Is $199

First, the obvious. Wisconsin Registered Agent.co wrote this, we charge $99 a year to sit in the seat ZenBusiness is currently occupying on your record, and we want the job. The ZenBusiness prices below belong to ZenBusiness. We pulled them off the company's public pricing in July 2026 and have not touched them since.

The Software Is Excellent. Say It and Move On.

ZenBusiness ships the best-designed product in this category. One dashboard, everything in it, an onboarding flow written for people who have never filed anything before, and a general sense that somebody cared. If a compliance workspace is what you were shopping for, they are the right answer and we are not.

We do not build software. We hold an address, answer the door, and scan what arrives. Two different products that happen to share one line on a state form.

Sticker $99. Life $199.

Buy the agent product on its own, no formation attached, and the opening price is $99 plus whatever the state takes. Year two is $199. So is year three. So is every year after that.

Nothing about this is concealed. Both numbers are published and easy to find. It just matters which one you multiply by the number of years you plan to own a Wisconsin LLC, because DFI wants somebody live in that seat for every day the company is on file. There is no version of this where you stop needing one. Own the company for six years and you have paid $99 once and $199 five times, which is $1,094. Six years here is $594.

Wisconsin Has No Secretary of State to Mail This To

Small thing that turns out to be a useful filter.

Wisconsin does not run business filings through a Secretary of State. Your entity record, your annual report and your agent appointment all sit with the Department of Financial Institutions, in its Division of Corporate & Consumer Services. There is no corporations bureau at a Wisconsin Secretary of State to send anything to, because the office does not handle that work here.

If it routes your filing to a Secretary of State, the person who wrote it was working from a national template and never checked. Registered agent service is a job made of small state-specific details, and a provider that has not learned which agency holds your file is not the one watching your deadlines.

The department is specific about the address, too. Your registered office has to be an actual physical location with a street number in Wisconsin. Three substitutes are named and rejected: a post office box standing alone, a mailbox rental, a phone answering service. That address also has to be identical with your agent's own business office. Not the same city. The same address.

Cheapest is a word we leave alone. BetterLegal posts ninety dollars a year, nine under us, so the superlative belongs to somebody else and we are not about to borrow it. The accurate version: ninety-nine dollars still sits low in the published Wisconsin range, and unlike a two-stage price it means the same thing in year one and year nine.

The Full Form 13 Route Off ZenBusiness

Three questions cover the whole procedure.

What is the document? Wisconsin's statement of change. The department calls it Form 13, the PDF is labeled Corp13, and it works for a new agent, for a new office address, or for the pair of them. When the company itself makes the change, an LLC files it under Wis. Stat. § 183.0116. The questions are short: your entity name, its DFI identification number, who the new agent is, where the registered office sits, that agent's email, and their agreement to serve. ZenBusiness does not sign it, is not asked about it, and cannot delay it.

Where does it go and what does it cost? To the department's corporate division, either through its online filing system for $10 or on paper by mail for $25. Wisconsin prices the portal below the envelope on purpose, and the online route is also the faster one, so paper only makes sense if something prevents you from filing on screen. Optional expedited handling exists at $100 more, which an agent change does not need.

When does it take effect? When the department accepts and records it, not when you press send. That gap is short but it is not zero, and it is the reason the order of operations matters.

So: enroll here first. We hand you the Wisconsin address and agent details the form asks for. You file Form 13 while ZenBusiness is still the agent of record, then watch the department's entity search until our name is the one showing on the agent line. Cancel ZenBusiness after that.

Do not do it the other way around. The form gives you nowhere to leave the agent field blank, which is the state telling you something: the seat is meant to be occupied continuously, and a cancelled vendor plus an unfiled form is a company with a public record pointing at an address nobody is answering.
